Meet Wize Estabillo: From dreamer to goal-getter
Many people have dreams and aspirations, but only a few are willing to take big risks in their lives to achieve those goals and turn those dreams into reality.
Quite a lot has happened to Wize Estabillo since joining It’s Showtime’s BidaMan. “To say I’m proud of my journey so far is an understatement. I’m just so happy and grateful for everything, and for all the blessings in my life. It’s been a very great experience. I’m very proud of my journey. And I’m just excited to see what the future holds for me.”
One short conversation and it’s hard not to notice Wize’s energy-filled passion, authenticity and positivism. As we took a pilgrimage through his life, his heart and mind began to open up. The endearing BidaMan shared his life’s defining moments, his passion for acting, his favorite memories growing up, his pet peeves, his ideal girl and why it’s worth chasing your dream career. He also answered a series of random and revealing questions. Read on!
“Never give up on your dreams. You never know how close you are. If you want it, go get it”
I feel it would be awesome to begin this interview by asking you, to reflect on the two or three very special people that you feel have shaped who you are today.
My parent and my lola. She’s my inspiration, my lola named Clara, sya po dapat laman ng monologue ko if ever umabot ako ng Top 3 sa Bidaman.
Today, what are you grateful for?
I’m grateful for all the love and support of my family, friends and supporters. Even if I didn’t win, the way they treated me from the very beginning didn’t change. [Smiles.]
Can you share a real-life situation that really inspired you?
We are not well off but I want to improve our way of living. That has been my biggest motivation in life ever since. It always reminds me to strive hard to provide for myself and for my family. I only want the best for them.
What makes you smile?
Seeing my mother happy. [Smiles.]
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned on your stint at BidaMan?
Never give up on your dreams. Entering show business at a not so young age should not be a hindrance in chasing your dreams. Success has no age, race or color.
In your own words, what’s your definition of a true BidaMan?
A true BidaMan is someone who is passionate. A person who never gives up and someone who can be a role model to everyone.
Describe your friendship with the rest of BidaMan members?
Our friendship is more likely to be called a brotherhood. We’re like brothers. The competition was never a competition anymore. I have serious talks most of the time with Johannes and Jin. I will miss the whole experience. I will miss every kulitan, the laughter, tears, everything about BidaMan. The journey itself is already part of the history of our family.

Why do you want to pursue a career in acting?
Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be an actor. I act in front of a mirror for some reason. I am eager to pursue an acting career that’s why if there is an opportunity, I will surely grab it. [Smiles.]
In which area would you like to improve as an actor? [And] What sort of acting roles will you be seeking in the future?
I want to be a dramatic actor. I want to be like Jericho Rosales, Piolo Pascual or Richard Gomez. I want portray a role of a son who does everything for his family and yet he’s never recognized.
What is your dream (role) project?
I want to do a project related to love for family. Like Sa’yo Lamang and Tanging Yaman. I want to work with Ms. Cherry Pie Picache, Ms. Gina Pareño, Jericho Rosales or Piolo Pascual.
When you are feeling blue or pressured, how do you cope with stress?
I surround myself with positive people. When I am sad, I choose to be with my family and closest friends. They are the only ones who understand me more than anyone else. [Smiles.]
What’s your outlook in life?
That everything happens for a reason. God’s plan is always better than ours.
Do you believe in the saying, “If you set your mind to it, you can do it”?
Yes. That’s Law of Attraction. It happened during my semis in Bidaman. I told myself that I’ll be sitting next to John and it happened. [Smiles.]
Where are your favorite countries to visit?
Working as a flight attendant gives me the opportunity to travel the world. London is my favorite destination. I also love Japan, Korea and of course, the United States. [Smiles.]

What were your favorite memories growing up?
Playing 90’s games like tumbang preso, jolens, text, harang-taga (patintero), etc. [Laughs.]

Mountains.
Milk tea or coffee?
Coffee.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
Piolo Pascual. I want to experience how to be like him even for a day
If you were given a chance, would you enter and join Pinoy Big Brother?
OF COURSE! That’s one of my dreams. [Smiles.]
What’s the first thing that attracts you to a girl?
Her smile. I get attracted to a girl with a great smile.
Can you describe the perfect personality?
There’s no such thing as perfect for me. Maybe ideal. An outgoing, happy and positive person attracts me a lot.
Do you have a physical type?
I guess a person’s smile. [Smiles.]
Which do you think is more important, looks or personality? Why do you think this?
I’d go for personality. Looks without substance is nothing.
What do you think are the most important features for a girl to have?
I want someone who’s tall and thin with beautiful hair and a sweet smile.
Celebrity crushes?
Alex Gonzaga, Heart Evangelista, Bela Padilla and Franki Russell.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
To be relaxed. Just focus.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I can sing but I get a hard time singing on stage.

1. I love siomai.
2. I sleep with kulambo on my feet. [Laughs.]
3. I am a joker.
4. I can’t go to bed without taking a bath.
5. I don’t wear undies when I sleep.
What’s your daily grooming routine?
So after taking a shower, I clean my face with toner then I apply moisturizer. I also apply lotion on my skin. Usually, yun na yung madalas kong ginagawa right after maligo.
What kind of exercise or sports activity do you like to do? How do you stay in shape?
I love to walk. I guess I make more than 10k steps everyday.
What is your favorite daily wear attire?
Just a plain shirt, jeans and white shoes. Comfortability over style.
What movie inspires you?
The movie 3 Idiots inspires me in so many ways.
Have you ever goggled yourself? What did you find out?
Hahaha. I tried to google myself after BidaMan. But I found nothing but photos that can be found on my social media accounts.
What are some of your pet peeves?
Noisy eating.
What have you learned about yourself lately? Has it been a discovery or a rediscovery process at all?
I discover to be calmer. To stay focus and don’t mind stress.
What’s the last thing (and the first) that you do before you go to sleep and when you wake up?
I pray. I thank God for a very wonderful day.
What’s next for you?
I’ll be back to flying for now while waiting for some possible offers. Of course, we’re praying for positive results. Crossed fingers. [Smiles.]
Right here, right now – what are you proudest of?
I’m proud how my parents have raised me. I owe everything I have to them.
