The Arizona rockers lit up the A Pop Punk Weekend and played an explosive, memorable night to remember, as they brought their Lovely Little Lonely tour in Manila.

Frontman John O’Callaghan, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, and drummer Pat Kirch of The Maine definitely lived up to their motto: ‘you wanted the best, you got the best!’

Surrounded by fans singing and dancing in unison, the band delivered yet another brilliant performance at the Skydome in SM North EDSA on Saturday night. To the tune of “Lovely,” the members of The Maine make their way to the Bazooka Rocks V stage.

They began their set with “Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu” from Lovely Little Lonely followed by “Am I Pretty?” – one of their hit singles from American Candy. The enthusiastic crowd gave theArizona punk rockers a big, warm welcome and clapped along loudly with the band.

A pop punk weekend like no other

There was only one rule for the evening though, “(To) Put your all your phones down and just enjoy this moment… let’s get crazy Manila,” vocalist John O’Callaghan beamed. And that’s what all the fans did for the entire night.

The band’s quirky yet charming onstage personas made the night more enjoyable. Aside from performing songs from their sixth studio album Lovely Little Lonely, they also included other standouts, fan favorites from Can’t Stop Won’t StopThe Way We TalkPioneer and Imaginary Numbers.

One of the highlights of the show was when a lucky male fan had the opportunity to join the band onstage to sing “Girls Do What They Want” for his girlfriend, while John got him to take the lead as crowd cheered him on.

The Maine closed the night with “Another Night on Mars”, which is always a good ending number. But to the delight of the fans, the band returned to the stage for their encore, which definitely made long-time (and new) fans super pleased.

After rocking “Ice Cave,” O’Callaghan immediately thanked the crowd as he made a promise to return soon. He also reminded their Filipino fans to “take care of each other… take care of yourself (as we’re all family). Thank you very much! We’ll see you all soon. Rock ‘n’ roll!”
