Jensen and The Flips Announces Album Release Date, Releases New Single ‘Slow’: Watch

Jensen and The Flips’ New “Slow” Single — Revealed With Honeymoon Release Date

Jensen and The Flips surprised fans Sunday by posting a video for a brand new song — and it quickly received a solid amount of views on YouTube.

Composed of Jensen Gomez (vocals/guitar), Choi Padilla (bass/vocals), Sam Valenia (guitar/vocals), Mel Roño (guitar), Miggy Concepcion (keyboards), Carlo Maraingan (percussions) and Michael Gemina (drums/vocals), the new song “Slow” will appear on Jensen and The Flips’ album — to be released on July 25.

“We called it Honeymoon because the songs are all about love in different angles. And Honeymoon also works since it’s our first album, we are still on the honeymoon phase of being a band and writing music together,” beamed Jensen Gomez.

Anatomy of a Song
Jensen Gomez of Jensen and The Flips breaks down the making of their brand new single “Slow” from their album Honeymoon.

The Subject
“Slow” is about that intense feeling you experience when you’re about to make love with someone. Sometimes the best way to go is to just take it slow. It can also work for other intense feelings we have for things that we love.

The Background
The background of the song is nothing really. It was never based on a personal experience. I just had this idea with taking things slow. And I just played with it.

The Writing
I wrote the song. One late night songwriting session in my room last year. I was listening to Gabe Bondoc’s “Tables” and that song inspired the music for this song, the lyrics came from an idea I had about how sometimes our intense feelings take over us. So the song is a reminder that we have to relax. The whole band helped with the arrangement.

The Song
The song itself was pretty hard to record because this is the first single that’s gonna come out with our album Honeymoon that will be released this July 25 at 19 East. So there was a lot of pressure on the song to sound great and impress. And I think we made it work on this one.

The Video
The video was shot last June 7 in Las Piñas. StrongholdMNL did the video. It’s our third time doing a video with them and I can say that this is the best one so far. Our growing relationship helped a lot on the process of shooting and the production of it. We don’t have a concept for the video really. Since it’s “Slow” we got a slow-mo cam to shoot it with. It made sense. The shoot only lasted for five hours. We brought stuff that we can break. And it felt like a show on discovery channel. I’m happy how well it’s being received now by our supporters and our dear friends. Hopefully that goes on until the new album comes out.
