Presented by PULP Live World and Skesh Entertainment, JIMMY EAT WORLD LIVE IN MANILA — SURVIVING: THE ASIA TOUR 2020 is happening on March 12, 2020 at the New Frontier Theater, marking the iconic emo/alternative rockers’ very first show in the country.

10 albums into their continuing journey as a band, Jimmy Eat World have proven themselves to be a band that’s timeless. Longevity is difficult enough to achieve, but to do so with uncompromising quality and unrelenting resolve is something that makes bands like Jimmy Eat World the perfect band to grow up with. So grow up with them, we did.

People have stuck with them for years for a reason. It feels so long ago now since the band (Jim Adkins, Tom Linton, Rick Burch, and Zack Lind) tore through the scene with their breakthrough album Bleed American, but tracks like “The Middle” and “Sweetness” continue to stand the test of time.

These have gone from being the songs of our youth to being enduring anthems, and this speaks volumes on the constant presence of Jimmy Eat World in the life of any of their fans. Somehow, there are storylines in these hits—along with more from albums that followed; fan-favorites Futures, Chase This Light, or the more recent Integrity Blues all come to mind—that still hit home, no matter what phase our lives are in right now.

This adds more depth to Jimmy Eat World. More than a name that’s survived the ever-changing landscape of the music industry at large, the band has long moved on from being the early 2000s emo staples they were known to be, to being a band that has continued writing and creating music that’s relevant and resonant.

Surviving, their 10th and latest album, came out in 2019—that’s over 25 years since Jimmy Eat World became a band. Yet right now, it hasn’t felt like they would simply ride on waves of nostalgia; instead, one might say that every album they’ve put out since Bleed American has been representative of a certain point in time or era in the band’s journey, as well as in the life of a fan that has hurtled through adulthood and gone through the motions both on a personal level and in terms of seeing what happens in the world around us.

Jimmy Eat World are the same band with the same energy, but with an evolving approach to songwriting and perhaps a progressing take on life as a whole. Succinct and strong, Surviving is all the proof we need that, about two and a half decades on, Jimmy Eat World are here to stay.

As the band heads our way during their Asia Tour in 2020, fans can expect to feel a fresh yet familiar energy from Jimmy Eat World as they bring us Surviving tracks like “All The Way (Stay),” “555,” “Criminal Energy,” and more. Filipino fans will also finally get to hear their favorite classics live for the very first time—it’ll be like catching up with a dear old friend to find that both of you have grown so much, separately and together somehow, but still with that warm air of familiarity.
