That’s the way they like it

One of America’s biggest party rock bands KC and The Sunshine Band brought back the funk at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 14, 2016.

Fronted by Harry Wayne Casey (aka KC), the concert was a proverbial trip back to the disco generation, complete with disco balls, groovy dancing and a full band with trumpets, conga drums and a rhythm section.

The group hit the ground running with their iconic “Shake, Shake, Shake (Shake Your Booty)” and “Boogie Man,” then slowing things down a bit with the ballad “Please Don’t Go.”

KC would routinely crack jokes on stage, comparing himself to boybands who would eventually look like him once they reach his age. The crowd laughed the loudest when he tried to say ‘thank you’ in Tagalog when it sounded more like ‘salami’ than ‘salamat.’

The band also did a dance cover of “Stand By Me,” plus a hip rendition of their very popular hit from the ’80s, “Give It Up.” Keeping the energy of the crowd going, KC belted out the song that pretty much is associated with disco era, “That’s The Way (I Like it).”

It was 90 minutes of timeless hits and dancing, wrapping up with “Get Down Tonight” and an encore of a disco version of “Please Don’t Go.” Overall, KC and the Sunshine Band put on a spectacular, high-energy show that left everyone breathless.
