Mind-blowing

Multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning artist/DJ/producer Zedd recently joined forces with Maren Morris and Grey for a pop-infused collaboration on “The Middle.”

Directed by Dave Meyers, the visual spectacle of the songfeatures a full production Zedd reveals to be a dream of his for his live shows, which feature around 80 LED walls and a dazzling light display.

“We got around 200 (LED walls) here,” Zedd said on the set of the Target-presented music video. “You feel like you are in a different city. It’s mind blowing.”

“We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be able to finally share it with everyone,” Zedd revealed in a statement upon the online release of the new track on Jan. 23 (Tuesday). “It was super fun working with Maren because she is clearly an amazing singer and very talented musician. And, I always love working with Grey because we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible.”

Like Zedd and 2018 Grammy Best New Artist winner Alessia Cara’s chart-topping hit “Stay,” the latest offering from the German-born producer incorporates pop elements to another degree compared to his earlier releases.

According to Billboard, the track is relatively sparse with cute, lively flourishes and a backbone beat with sonic similarities to “Stay.”

Zedd’s transition to pop territory goes back to the release of his 2015 sophomore record True Colors, which draws itself more as an experimental album that incorporates aspects of rap and pop. Through this progression, the “Clarity” producer won Top Dance/Electronic Album at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards for True Colors and was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2018 Grammy Awards for “Stay.”
